Why is there Hydrogen Peroxide in Northwest Biotechnology 75% Ethyl Alcohol Hand Sanitizer and should I be concerned?
Hydrogen Peroxide or H2O2, although at a very low concentration, is an important safety aspect in our Hand Sanitizer formulation. The very low concentration of H2O2 is intended to
eliminate any chance of contamination of spores in the
batch solutions and containers.
When the final product is applied, H2O2 quickly breaks down into water and oxygen and evaporates with the alcohol and has no adverse effects on the human skin or other surfaces that it comes into contact with.
